Fully qualified integrative
Counsellor and Psychotherapist
Counselling offers a safe space
Most of us, at some point in our lives, will experience feelings that are
difficult or uncomfortable to live with. Sometimes it’s linked to a specific
event; sometimes it just creeps up on us. There may not be an obvious
reason for how you’re feeling but something is preventing you from leading
a content and fulfilling life.
This is where Counselling or Psychotherapy can help. Talking things through
with an experienced therapist can offer insight into what is the root of your
distress or discomfort while feeling supported and understood by someone
who is on your side.
Counselling offers a safe space where you are listened to without judgement.
Therapy sessions explore difficulties in the present, sometimes linking these
to past events, with a view to making positive changes in the future, bringing
relief and optimism to you and those around you.
I create a bespoke therapeutic pathway that’s best for you.
I am a fully qualified integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. That means I do not follow one designated approach but tailor the support I offer according to the needs of the client. I am able to draw on various theories and approaches, all the time working to create a bespoke therapeutic pathway that best suits each
individual.
Although my work is located in the present, I do explore the past to help understand what might be affecting how someone is feeling in the present day. Once there is a greater understanding, my work shifts to a more solution focused approach and explores how to support change and offer a positive way forward.
As your personal counsellor and psychotherapist, creating a therapeutic relationship that allows me to understand your story is paramount. I see a strong, trusting relationship as the core of whatever work is undertaken.
I can help if you’re struggling with -
Depression, sadness or feeling low
Work/Life balance
Confidence issues and low self-esteem
Stress
Bereavement and loss
Relationship problems
Addiction
Anxiety, panic attacks and intrusive thoughts
Facing a problem that is hard to talk about or resolve
My training -
I am a BACP registered counsellor and psychotherapist living and working in Lewisham, South East London. I have experience supporting clients within the NHS, schools, individually and in private practice. In each case I offer a warm welcome, a safe space to talk and a non-judgemental attitude.
I am an integrative practitioner, working relationally, with a sound knowledge of different theoretical approaches and a good understanding of how to apply them to best meet individual needs.
I have worked in a GP surgery providing therapy directly to patients in a primary care setting and in schools and colleges providing support and therapy to all students, including those with special educational needs.
Previous to counselling, I worked as a fully qualified special educational needs teacher. My work in SEND involved supporting young people to achieve their goals and realise their value in the world.
I maintain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
I am a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and work within their ethical framework. I maintain confidential and relational boundaries at all times, as well as regularly reflecting on my practice with a clinical supervisor.
